Svitlana Markelova took part in some international conferences, she is the author of a number scientific publications in Ukraine and abroad.

Associate professor of the Department of Foreign Language for Humanities of Lviv national University. In 1978 graduated from Lviv University with the Red diploma. In 1978 – 1982 she worked as a translator at Lviv scientific research institute of Materials. In 1982 – 1986 she worked as a teacher at a secondary school in Lviv. In 1986-1989 she studied at post-graduate courses at the Department of English philology of Lviv University. In 1991 S. Markelova defended candidate dissertation “The Means of Realization of subject content cohesion in a dialogue text (on the base of English drama of the XX century)”. She has been working at the Department of Foreign Languages since 1989 first as an assistant, since 1996 as associate professor of the Department of Foreign Languages for Humanities.

Svitlana Markelova visited the USA as a member of the Partnership program between the University of Oregon and Lviv National University. She is a member of TESOl-Ukraine organization, in 2002 she was elected Lviv oblast coordinator of this professional organization.
