On the occasion of the celebration of the national holiday of Greece – the Day of “OXI” on November 3, 2021, teachers and students of the Department of Classical Philology took part in an online literary evening dedicated to the work of Nobel Laureate Odysseus Elitis. A veteran of the Italian-Greek war of 1940-41, O. Elitis reveals to the reader his own experience of the beginning of World War II and, speaking of large-scale things such as peace and war, life and death, puts man and the complexity of his choice at the center of the poem. . After the evening, there was a small discussion about the work of O. Elitis, Ukrainian-Greek literary ties and the prospects of teaching modern Greek in Ukraine.
