About the Department
Founded in 1998, the Department of Foreign Languages for Sciences makes its unique contribution in preparing students who study at the Sciences faculties of the Ivan Franko National University of Lviv to live in modern globalized world and function effectively as global citizens as well as to enhance their career prospects in today’s competitive, multilingual marketplace.

The department is dedicated to teaching English or German languages to both undergraduate and graduate students from basic-intermediate-advanced language skills classes to more specialized courses corresponding to students’ majors. Learners can either continue studying a language taken earlier in school or start a new one.
Classes are kept up to 16 persons to enable greater student participation and provide constant development of language skills in listening, speaking, reading, and writing.
Foreign Language Program instructors are experienced teachers with advanced degrees and a wealth of expertise as published authors, researches, travellers and educators who employ the most recent advances in foreign language methodology. They frequently incorporate current, culturally relevant articles and multi-media materials to supplement regular assignments.
